Great overview of essential oils, uses for children and pregnant folks.

But I think an excellent point she makes is that you should ALWAYS work with your health care provider when considering what oils to use. This is SO important for us all to remember as Wellness Advocates. We should NEVER offer medical advice. We are not Dr Google and we cannot and should never try to recommend using an oil as a diagnosis or solution!

I know Tess will never offer a diagnosis as a naturopath. The best way to go about this is to refer someone to the dōTERRA.com website where there is amazing compliant material that talks about oil benefits, and then every individual can read and take personal control and responsibility for their own choices!

Make sure you remain compliant, provide education material and links, but never offer a diagnosis. Social media is not the place to seek health diagnosis. Ratchets ask the right question; “Where can I read more about…and the benefits of essential oils?”

Always encourage folks to work with their health care professionals!

Remember:

So, don’t refer to any illness, disease or symptoms, and don’t prescribe or recommend an oil as a medical solution or substitute for any drug.

These are the dōTERRA recommendations:

  • Refer to temporary emotions (“lifts mood,” “reduces irritability”)
  • Use cosmetic claims (“cleanses,” “improves appearance”)
  • Use structure-function claims only with products labeled for internal use
  • Use words such as “health,” “wellness,” “supports,” “maintains,” etc
  • Refer to general body parts and systems (“for heart health,” “supports the respiratory system”)
  • Refer to normal conditions associated with a natural state or process (“morning sickness during pregnancy,” “hot flashes during menopause”)
  • Use qualifiers such as “mild,” “typical,” “normal,” “occasional,” or other words to distinguish a temporary or minor condition from a symptom of disease (“occasional stomach upset,” “muscle soreness following exercise”)

 

We would always suggest you provide your clients/friends or family with links to information so they can personally read and find their own power and make informed decisions.

For example: If a friend is complaining they are feeling bloated and have pains in their abdominal area, you may suggest that they have a look at the link to DigestZen and provide them with the details.
